We’re ALL about functional sustainable strength.

SCROLL DOWN

We’re ALL about functional sustainable strength.

About Us

Integral Method Fitness formally known as Park Slope Fitness has been operating in New York for the last 10 years under its founder and instructor Ilya Bronshteyn. We offer the environment of either personal training or small group classes.

We help others to overcome their limitations.

Working with a wide range of clients, we adopt the training to reflect different needs and goals. Some come to us already quite fit. Some haven't exercised in years. Some want to get stronger and leaner. Some want to recover from injury. Some want more energy and vitality. Some want new challenges. And some, if not all, wouldn't mind looking great in a bathing suit.

We believe that the foundation of fitness is functional capacity— being able to lift a box or shovel snow without hurting your back, walk up stairs without losing your breath, or catch yourself from a fall. We each have a different functional baseline but everyone's baseline can be raised.

Here's a secret: there's nothing complicated about achieving optimal health and fitness at any age. It comes down to developing healthy habits. We can help. It's a process of course, one that requires close collaboration and careful attention to where you are and what you need at the time.

Our Methodology

The bodies movement structure consists of 4 fundamental faculties. They are ATTENTION, BREATH, POSTURE and MOVEMENT, thus the five circles in our logo, fifth serving as a unifying element.

We take the ancient movement arts that have been proven by science and tested by time immemorial.

Stemming from the east and the west this includes Yoga, kettlebells, shaolin kung-fu, weightlifting, including power & olympic, chi - kung, gymnastics, meditation & breathing exercises.

The roots of all these methods create a tree of knowledge that bears its fruits, as a unique fitness approach that anyone can taste and be nourished by.

Testmonials

"In 2009 I was diagnosed with osteoporosis.  As an always-active 55 year old, I was shocked, but apparently I hadn't been active in the right ways to counteract all the risk factors I had.  Enter Ilya.  I have now been working with him for four years, and in that time my bone density has increased 18%; I am stronger and physically more stable; and every session is different and fun.  You can't get better than that.  My doctors say it is amazing -- and that I am lucky to have found such a competent and engaging trainer."

"I have been working with Ilya for 2-3 years now.  I came to him with a chronic hip pain stemming, I believe, from years of yoga stretching and no strength training.  After seeing acupuncturists, chiropractors, massage therapists who were not helpful, I finally got better working with Ilya.  Although he doesn’t claim to be a rehab specialist, (and my injury was not THAT painful or disruptive to my normal life) I found that he had a deep understanding of exactly what the problem was and what I could do to fix it.  He was always careful not to strain it further and, although it took a long time to heal, it has really gotten better over time.  I am in my late 50s, have always done some sort of exercise, and wanted to push myself to get stronger (there is always hope) but not at the expense of my overall well being.  Ilya understands exactly how to moderate exercises for me so that I get stronger without getting hurt—he’s not one of those macho dudes who just yells at you “more more more”.  Also, after working with him for a while, I can now run for miles without my knees hurting—which I could never do before—not even ten years ago."
